Shall I perish in Paladore
With Ymain and Aithne
Fighting the endless waves
That wash away a castle made of sand

Is Aladore beyond all mortal touch
Never to be entered or even spied
By maid or warrior alike
Who only quest perfection

The journey was swift
Upon a steed with golden shoes
Sparks glinting on cobbled roads
Laid by long lost legions

Valleys came and went
Hill fort sentries overlooked
Ever watchful with arrows
Bowed to slay the unwary

Avalon was My destination
Rising from the mist Morgana casts
A few sparse leagues to canter
Against the rising wind

Arthur was My sovereign
Only He the power to order
My unquestioning obedience
To ought but knightly oath

I spied her standing proudly
Tresses billowing like Medusa
Eyes fixed upon an horizon
Beyond this mortals eye

I begged entry dutifully
Gave the password on bended knee
Threw My breastplate open
Offering naked flesh for her blade

Leon she called Me
Speaking in the old tongue
Recalling time when I was young and eager
Every fit for battle in a worthy cause

Be not timid or afraid
I have no wish to end you
Even if your time has long departed
Like the majesty that once reigned here

She spoke of the new God
The one that meant the death of us
Rising in the east and all embracing
Blessing the nameless with everlasting life

Dooming the old ones to memory
Names to be whispered in legend
Used to scare raucous children
When whippings wouldn't do

Camelot needs you Tellus
For Earth Mother she was always
The savages are at the battlements
Screaming for blood and plunder

She nodded sagely and shrugged
Then bade Me sit with her awhile
There is no hurry Rampant Beast
Tomorrow is theirs already

The moon danced into the sky
A bloody orb as in springtime
Full of life's blood ready to spill
Upon the waiting barren soil

Dragon's teeth began to glint
Woken by slaughters stench
Smoke spilling voluminously
From their gaping mouths

At dawn she bade Me go
Carrying Pendragon's standard
Girth deep in billowing clouds
Braving acrid demon smoke

The battlefield lay quiet
Bodies laid in silent rows
Pointing all towards the west
Where each must set in time

All and everything destroyed
Crushed in a moments madness
Marble turrets fallen into ruin
Trampled beneath mailed feet

Where once where Oaken Groves
Endless fields of golden grain
Now stood a solitary cross
Casting it's threatening shadow
