Dmitry playing scales in the next room
the moon, long set
rushing back to where it began,
North American and Pacific plates
slowly rub against each other
uncertain lovers
shoulder to shoulder, hip to hip
tectonic tango
exploring each other’s fringe
each other’s sense of place,
pentatonic blues
with iced vodka
two candles burning
through seductive fog
uneasy sense of wellbeing,
life should be so easy
the course of action
so clear …
