Do you feel the darkness near?
Does it fill your days with fear?
Do you cry and not know why?
Do you ask your God to die?

Sing your song of worry and woe.
None to hold-no place to go.
Cry at night and smile by day.
We the wounded-our only way.

None to see our pain unfold.
Outside young but inside old.
Are you scarred into your soul?
Inside broken while outside whole?

This is a game we play alone.
Feel the ache down to our bone.
How do we figure out how to cope
when all we want is to cut the rope?

We cry to God to no avail.
Just another way we fail.
We are left alone in pain.
All our begging is in vain.

And so we greet the dawn alone.
What else have we ever known?
And so we simply suffer on
and grow to hate the lying dawn.
