Do you know me?

I know you, but do you know me?
Do you even know me at all?
I ponder such a sour situation
And wonder with unease,
As I awake once again to a beautiful day.

It’s been a summer so far and perhaps even longer
Since I’ve felt this way and kept hidden
My only true secret and personal hindrance.

If I could lay to rest persistent feelings,
Then I would be so fortunate to best human nature
And call myself the victor of my own trial.

And such a trial it is, to feel for you
Like nothing else in this dark world
To carry such an overbearing burden
Only to carry it even further
I would only have done for you.
