If thou wert indeed a skipping speeding thought,

upon my shoulder, in combat did alight,

defying darts and daggers, and pits with danger frought,

defending me through distance, thy strength of dragon-knight;

I would have known it, though not a word be read,

and would have wielded thy smile upon my heart;

thus blocking blows of a spider soon in dread,

and freeing my spirit of the grapples of its art.

Seeing my smile, the weaker one did flee,

and yielded the space to fill with void and light;

a space to drink in ectasy with thee,

with thee and I together, to cheat the force of night.

As thou find'st the courage to see thy demons slain,

i wait for thee with longing, to be with thee again.
