Awake I lie and hear the sounds of dawn
The moonlight pales behind my pane
and stars
fade slowly from the sky
Reluctant night yields to morning new
and a blackbird sings
my loneliness

Its’ sweet song soothes my aching heart
and comfort
brings its’ voice so clear
The scent of dew on new green shoots
dispels the lingering rankness
of dreams gone sour
and bitter thoughts

The first thin rays of sunlight warm
pierce
my curtains and my heart
to tenderly caress my yearning face
and remind me of my lovers’ touch
replacing gloom
with hopeful joy

And nights’ anguish leaves no trace
nor breath
on my blossoming faith;
my soul nurtured by the trust
that sheltered always I remain
His love my haven
his arms my home

Another joyous expression

Here unfolds

Of love's power

To bring light

And lighten life's load.

your poems always seem to move from dark to light

from despair to hope, from loneliness to love. Very well done, Anna, keep them coming (xxx)

nice write

what does it mean? (~_~) there are some gripping and touching lines but I didn't get the full impact of the poem. Like a dream that flows by with no real substance. Look forward to reading more from you, thanks for sharing.

Oh Anna...my Anna

I do remain...Your Many Feathers. I too share in that hope, you've given that to me. The gloom and fear I have at times that fate will be cruel to us, is chased away by your smile, the warmth of your eyes as I look at you, and by the love that you hold dear.

May that dark become the sunrise of our love.
