Sleep
He eludes me this night
Banished by the very mind
Which craves him so

Is the freedom that he offers
Really free?

Such sweet release he brings
At a price I cannot pay
Empty my rampant mind
And smother my wandering soul

What dreams keep me from dreaming?

Trees dance
Dragons speak
Even demons love

And my heart sings its eternal song

My eyes close
Heavy with the burden
Of my restless thoughts

So heavy
They are shackled
Imprisoned behind rusted iron
The bars in my mind
Longing to be unleashed

They call to me
Trapping me with them
Away from the warm embrace
Of sleep
I so crave

Quick now!
Free them!
Write them down!
Write under the 100 watt sun
Or Selene herself!
Until Helios delivers his passenger

Write
Under the the true light
As he rises

And be free

Restless night escapes the day
And the day escapes me
Until finally
My eyes close freely

My gift
My burden
My dreams that keep me from dreaming
