Renewed by the breeze of an autumn day
I sit reflecting on days gone by
With a spark of hope and delight
Memories are there like a gull on the horizon
Gliding on the wings of my past
Going nowhere and everywhere the same

A faint glimmer of light reaches outward
And I am taken back to long ago
When the world was large and looming
And the days went on forever
I hear the whispers of yesterday call
Gently leading me on
Dreams spread out on my mind’s horizon

Dreams of lollipops and unicorns
Of cotton candy and satin ribbons
Dreams of frills and fancy favors
All come floating gently downward
And settle softly on my mind
Playfully written words upon my memory
Like dewdrops on an autumn morning
Clear watery wonder dotting grass blades
Soaking in the silence as a willowy whisper
That soothes my soul and bathes me
In the elegance of days gone by

My youth of yesterday lay
In folds of dreams, layers of warmth
That cover my thoughts
And close my eyes to slumber
Where I might dream yet again
Of sweet surrender.

Lovely images!

This poem has a wonderfully whimsical quality, and the images paint a very clear picture. I think it would be a stronger piece with some judicious editing to pare it down some. Just my opinion, of course. :)

Recommended in today's new poems reviews.
