I’ve started thinking
That despite ourselves
It will be alright

No time for romance
No time for shooting stars
Or for neon lights

Just give me hope, girl
You won’t give up now
Not without a fight

You’re like that apple
From that one tree
Please baby, one more bite

Just want to hug and hold you tight

I’ve stopped dreaming
Of a perfect world
Made for you and me

My eyes are open
Now the sun pores down
Bright and filter free

If you have chosen
That we’re just good friends
Then, Lord, let it be

Turn your back on love
Make a joyous song
Filled with energy

There’s so much that you can’t see

Still the world turns
One more weary whirl
Followed by the next

And love fails us
Helps break all the rules
And defies the text

Still just to meet
You, in any way
Means that I’ve been blessed

In my frenzy
I leap wildly on
Yearning without rest

Yes it’s true I’ve been obsessed

Now the time has come
When the world is one
And there ain’t no more

No point wondering
Whether you have sinned
What your guilt is for

There’s no place now
For simple desire
To subsume the law

Guess it’s time we closed the door...
