Long ago....
A child
age five
in shorts
riding bike
skinning knees
the days lasting forever

dad...a drunk, a lush...a monster
my mom, a blonde, dizzy, stupid pushing his buttons
I
the buffer
I
the spring
guitars raged in my mind
every rock band would have been envious
of the solos I heard
created
with
my
brain
just to blot out the terror
the pain
the heartache
which was my life

lights, strobe, blinking
the song went on
I wanted death
telling myself
only the good die young
god damned did I pray......

now...I
six foot three
alive and attractive...
breaking many a womans rosiary....
it's true...only the good die young
or they end up with my reputation

tell ya baby...
don't fall in love with me
I'll break your heart
after you bring me home
