Last night I dreamed of El Dorado.

And as I first awoke, it was with me yet.
The sun there had shone with a kinder light,
While unspoken hopes and fond desires did
Glow and shimmer in the warming haze.
As I drowsed, there was a joy near escaping,
Which came from a great thing, now forgotten.
I knew the future was a good place for me.

There was a one who had been with me there,
Whose scented presence still lingered in the air
And whose return was fixed upon the hour.

Last night I dreamed of El Dorado.
