embracing a cactus

try the quills
or better still
touch a star
it's not so far
how the fragrance lingers
my star-charred fingers
I learn and burn
for what I yearn
imagine how much
I'd love the touch
wouldn't you know
so long, long ago
how the fragrance lingers
my star-charred fingers
