Emotionless

Shattered emotions falling underfoot
Trampled amidst the apathetic confusion

Battered and scarred, only a sliver
Of their previous exuberant buoyancy

To gather the numerous pieces
Would require too much effort

Instead, I watch in trance-like, horrid fascination
As the millions of tiny, jagged edges

Swirl, bludgeoned beyond recognition,
Down into the filth of a gutter, lost forever!
