Once upon a time
The house was full
Full of laughter
Full of noise, full of fun
Full of family and friends
Full of love
Now it stands full of clutter
Full of emptiness.

Where coats once hung
There are empty pegs
Where towels once hung
There are empty pegs
Where messages were clipped
To the fridge door
There are empty pegs.

These days there is just man and wife
Suitor and lover
Finding one another - again
Discovering lost personalities
Lost under being Mother or Father

Looking to the future
With another’s children
Ones that you can give back
When you get tired
All is not empty
Just changed.

Very nice poem.

I found this after you left a comment on my story - thank you for that. I love this poem about being grandparents...it's so bittersweet. I love it. :)
