her heart broken
just as mine
holding her close
in the flickering firelight
her tears streaming
down her face
down my breast
stroking her hair
wanting to soothe
my heart aching
knowing I cannot
loving caresses
a gentle squeeze
until she sleeps
cradled in my arms
dreaming of a love
still alive inside
her pain returning
as she awakens
sharing her tears
my arms always open
for her
memories linger
feelings remain
her precious smile
recovered over time
breathing again
learning a destined love
would never leave
