Facets of You

*A special thank you to the muse behind this piece, for convincing me to insist that my voice be heard. You know who you are. Hope you're smiling as you read this.

Heard it said once
He makes love, like poetry
I know not of this
Still, his words speak to me

Slight of hand
The stroke of his pen
Makes love to the page
His word play, my Zen

Laments full of beauty
Backlit by pain
He is winter and summer,
Both fire and rain

Duality of mankind
Flows through his veins
The salt in the wound
The salve for the pain

He is layered with flavors
The savory, the sweet
A tapestry of textures
Abrasive and sleek

Glimpse my traits in his words
And they leave me stricken
The good, bad and ugly
All wrapped up in ribbon

Devil and angel,
Holy wicked collision
He walks this fine line
On the road to perdition
