We escaped oblivion
within three years of one another.
You acquainted me with fairies
ghosts
soil
mermaids...
We intrigued each other
until adulthood arrived to summit us
like lice.
You've been lost beneath
aprons and silk
since I left
our merry world of blankets.
And I've fallen over
once,
twice,
again
Trying to flatten myself.
Surrender to gravity,
to responsibility,
to time.
We'll be faded blooms.
Forgotten buds.
