Fairy Tales

I could lap you up like honey
As you lounge upon my bed; an adolescent
Fantasy brought to languid life. Ivory glinting--
A feral smile. Your hooded gaze burns.

You seem to think you’ve gotten me; that I cannot
See past the sweet façade to what you’ve hidden.
Like candy-coated poison, your true nature lurks
Just beneath the surface: velvet claws and lying tongue.

But I am not Gretel, to see a sugar cottage and not question,
Nor Little Red, to be fooled by appearances
And I know you for what you are, Mr. Wolf,
And I need no huntsman to rid myself of you.

So I’ll play along for now, and pretend
That I, like Rapunzel’s prince, am blinded
Because of lust. I’ll glut myself with you
And when I’m done? We’ll see who cries for help.
