Finite time together, limited contact
and she is a forever kind of girl.
Free heart, open mind struggle with
restricted possibilities and bittersweet moments.

First words exchanged; secret glances,
shy smiles soon become full-fledged laughter.
Incessant talking, sharing selves
as the connection grows like daisies.

Moonlight dances mingle with pajama parties
as Thai food intersects with icicle toes.
Banter increases as frantic need overtakes.
Sunlight memories banked for a cold winter.

Clasped hands, locked lips, stray touches
lead to wanting more than is possible.
Sacrificing hesitation, going with the flow,
not naturally selfish, except in this.

She loves an intriguing mystery
but already knows how this story will end.
Grappling with the known
forms questions and uncertainty.

Sometimes, moments are just moments
meant to be savored then retained.
Cherished perfect moments
don’t guarantee happily ever after.
If only she could believe that.
