Always the slap of water. Far away
another destination, all the shores
I sailed before, the well-known ports, the quays
with crates and bales, my life a drawn-out line
from haunt to haunt, devoid of any rest
and there’s no choice but going. Still, I would
not mind a change and gladly pull my keel
onto the beach and stay behind - you know
no sailor will be married to a sea
he knows too well; sea never married me.

Another Demure poem

As sort of standard - subtle, well expressed and thought provoking. I particularly like 'sea never married me' - very nice thought.
