I saw an angel once
perched a top a barstool
dishwater blonde, a dye
job grown out
in tight no name jeans
a faded vikings sweatshirt
she sat smokin cigarettes
drinking beer, her
brown eyes clouded...
sad...she fumbled
with matches, wiped
away the water rings
beneath her beer. from whom
or what she was escaping
i'll never know
to me she appeared
like a stressed goddess
i longed to hold her
quiet her fears, instead
in silence we sat across
the bar...drinking beer
