The heart once broken is an arid landscape
awaiting to be replenished.

follow your heart oh yeah
every song, every poem, every instinct
tells you to follow your heart
but after following my heart for half my life
I came to the realization that the heart is foolish
it does not know that love don't love nobody

i began to look at relationships intellectually
to use logic
I calculated what i wanted
leaving emotions behind
ignoring the needs of my soul
my outer shell showing a strong women
no tears would I shed
while my heart wept
thirsting for love
yearning to be sated
repaired, revived

and then love called
an emotional volcano
over-ruling all logical thought
my heart flourished
bloomed
drinking love as a flower drinks in the
morning dew
beating vibrantly........alive, addicted
and once again I follow my heart oh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
