I dreamt
That we were walking upon a shore
It was quite late, our bodies were tired
The night was dark but the stars were bright
We couldn’t tell where the sky ended and the ocean began
The air was cool but we didn’t care
Our hands were warm and in each other’s
I was happy
I was with you

I dreamt
That we were walking on a mountain
It was snow covered and your cheeks rosy
You kept telling me you were frozen
I would laugh and say no you are not
It is your southern blood, too thin for these climates
Then I wrapped my arms tight around you
Pressing my body up close to you
You sighed and said thank you, my darlin
I was with you

I dreamt
That we were watching the sunrise
On a bright clean beach with glittering sand
The colors vibrant as each moment shifted
We were in awe of sweet nature’s glory
Our feet were bare and dug in the smooth grains
Our fingers linked and held to each other
Your eyes met mine and we shared the moment
It was beyond words
I was with you

I dreamt
That we were lost in a forest
Surrounded by green trees, moist with dew
I had was only a little bit frightened
You looked so much smaller
Deep in this forest
But still your strength was stronger than mine
Towering over me so protectively
And then I realized I would never be lost
I was with you

I dreamt
That we were walking on diamonds
Along the shore on a summer day
The sky was so clear and the ocean so glaring
You wore a hat, I made you do so
No more sunburn on that head I held dear
I wore shorts and my scars were showing
I didn’t care
I was with you

I dreamt
That we were out on the prairie
The clouds were so fluffy
And the sky was so blue
Waves of grain surrounded us too
You broke off a stalk between your thumb and your finger
Stuck it in your mouth and said you were a farmer
I had to giggle, you looked so silly
But then I often laughed when
I was with you

I dreamt
That we stood at the ocean
Watching the sunset with shades of red, yellow and blue
You had your arms
Wrapped tight around me
I leaned back upon you
Content for the moment
I knew at that moment our love was changing
Constant and circled, growing and new when
I was with you

I dreamt
That I stood at a hallway
A white light was calling, calling me home
I saw the face of my sweet savior and of my family long since passed on
I heard a cry and turned back to see you
One lone tear rolled down your cheek
With my small finger I reached out and caught it
Held to my chest as I turned away from you
Without a pause, I went on to join them
Whispering to my lover
I am always with you.
