on the cross of yet another day,
no end to the embers of your memory,
the burning,

together,
we discovered the heart of the heart of all
things,
didn’t need words,

but bliss became need, and enough was not,
and there were bits of sunlight all over you
when you died,
a single drop of blood on your arm,

I kissed your blue lips,
held you
tried to call you back.

the night the moon first threw my shadow across your grave,
I shook my fist at god,
threw your spike at heaven.
