Though you are mere steps away
You are no longer within reach

We agreed to step back
Walk away slowly or was it run

Ending this affair of the heart
Body mind spirit and soul

I find that I ache for you even now
Each time I see you walk past

Not meant for each other
No good together there is only pain

I loved you too much
Now I am without you forever

This pain will ease in time
Each day must become easier

If not I will have to pretend
Never showing I still care

I have found another to distract me
In his arms there is comfort

He is not you nor will he ever be
That is good and bad in one

Perhaps I will love him in time
But know deep down I am forever yours

Longing.

A poem about loving and losing, perhaps due to pride. Many have this experience. It's nice to see it being told in a poem. Thanks for writing. <3 Lillian, KR.
