I feel I’m living in my skin
Just my skin
Peeled off from my flesh and bone
Though very much alive
Conscious and enervated
And being pounded out
Between God’s own hammer and anvil

This living leather still holds a soul
Tired lost and pained to near numbness
Just near
Love
Chess
All the king’s horses
And all the king’s men
