Fruit

byWillow Rain©

Fear in shades of orange,
tastes of tangerines.
Memories, tart as citrus oil,
burst across my tongue.
You radiate joy
all in shades of yellow and orange,
bright as the sun.
Your happiness in her
glows
and I feel the warm
taste in my mouth,
tart sweet,
the bitter of pith,
a hard shape of a seed
against my tongue.
I’m afraid of so much change.
This fruit
has opened so easily
and I know you cannot help
but reach for the sweetness.
My mouth is full
of emotion.
