feasted on sweet sausage,
deep sleep re-ordered
my troubled brain

and I woke up
somewhat refreshed
to view the continuing fall
of steady rain
on yards with vibrant rosebushes

I fixed coffee from Ethiopia,
processed by dexterous illiterate hands
and zoomed across the ocean
in a bird of aluminum and silicon
all to greet me this dawn

I took a walk
on the railroad tracks
and saw lines of auto ants
(all 5 minutes late)
going to operate, litigate,
and procreate

I saw the tangled forest mountains
tranquil in their ferocity
pines intersecting with oaks
where cougars cross deer
without signs or signals

I put down my umbrella,
juggled rocks and got wet,
went home,
dried off and took my medicine
to ward off
the rising neck pain

there were books to be read,
worries to be worried,
pleasures and pains to be had,
thoughts to make me
happy and sad

first, I put pen to paper
mirror to evoluteation
and bid good morning
to the ash God
