The smoke rises in my heart and stings my eyes to shame
Fire licks my veins and stirs my blood in a cauldron of barren love
The ash whispers your name as it rains on my memory
So I love to hear it spoken by things less foul than this
Engulfed in this chain of embers I grab and gasp
Not even tears can quench my thirsty soul
Yet only your hand is my water and I love to embrace it
The clouds life out of my eyes and the moon calls a name of my own
The stars ride their chariots abroad
Wind lows as the fire burns
Charred and black my future was yet grace came through moonlight
My eyes were shut to the strength of your love and once opened my heart smiles
