Grey both, sit
a man and woman,
laughing about
plans for the future.
Public service
she wishes for him,
but he shrugs—
he's too old for that.
Wanting only
to retire and travel,
he suggests
she might come along.
Her cheeks
turn pink, but she says,
"I have a boyfriend."

o I liked this

There's an affection here for your subject that shines through nicely without being patronizing or overly sweet. Really nicely done.

Funny, true and spare. Thanks.

This is a nice light look at mid-life relationships. I liked the ending.
