Without thinking, I again
plunge my sword into the arras
and hear an old man babbling death into my ear.

Why must I repeat this gesture
as if I didn't know
to what end I press this blade?

Even now, as Polonius slips speechless
to the floor, I know my own death's near.
It's all been planned. I'll die

only to leap back to life once more
and race gasping to the heights
so as to die and rise again.

Am I forever to repeat these acts
that I know lead me to my doom?

~~

A rhetorical question, no doubt,

That ought to be aimed at Mr. Bill.
