On getting older your possessions
seem to act like magnets - books
attract books and late relations

clutter your boxroom and attic
with old furniture, kitchen utensils
and jigsaw puzzles still too good

to throw away, gathering dust
as the collection grows, on its way
to your own young successors.

Especially books are hard to get
rid of; the best ones find room
in the downstairs bookcase, the others

will sit in boxes to be browsed through
on summer afternoons ; there's always
something there. Likewise stray words

and scraps of conversation, together
with varied images and vivid,
not always accurate memories will make

their insistent way into the back
of your mind. They stay there, possibly
to be used for further reference.

I have a Kindle...

...but I will never give up my books. I love the feel, the smell, the look of books. I could no more throw out my books than I could throw out the words that crowd my mind, searching for expression.

I like this one, my friend!

It's so hard &

Harrd-hearted to give , away , sell or get rid of books ! that said most of them lie unread for years in the dust seeking readers , neglected , forgotten ........

maybe you could be

Especially books are hard to get

rid of; the best ones find room

in the downstairs bookcase, ....

nah, probably different books

Why do you read such trash?

As she heaved my manga collection

in the dumpster, quickly followed

by her.

I can relate to this one

Amazing the 'stuff' we accumulate during a life, books being the least of them but perhaps the greatest treasure
