Trying to look like the current cover of Teen Vogue
Mary primped and preened all day long until she was a picture of perfection

For she was about to go out on her first date
It was with a real cute guy named John that she has a crush on

After applying her lipstick, she became bored
Her mind became vacant as vanity took over

"Mirror mirror on the wall who's the fairest of them all?" she vainly asked
"Why me of course!" she retorted back to herself

Finally a horn honked outside her window
She knew instinctively it must be him

Grabbing her Burberry purse, she rushed to the front door
For it matched perfectly with her new Manolo Blahnik's

Outside she stepped, finally seeing the light of day
Ready to impress with her head to toe dress

Suddenly the sun blinded her
Throwing her off balance

Her adolescent high heel dreams came to an embarrasing halt
As her bubblegum pink lips kissed the cold sidewalk below

Nonchalant passerbys stared listlessly at their watches
Instead of lending a charitable hand

Before she could get up and compose herself
A crow nested in her aqua net beehive do

As if that weren't enough, the wind played peek-a-boo with her mini-skirt
Giving juvenile jollies to the neighborhood peeping toms

Silently she laid there in a pool of humiliation
As akward moments seemed to pass into muted hours

Needless to say good ole Johnny boy sat there dumbfounded
His hands nervously gripping the wheel before pulling away
