I would lay him in my lap
lest he not see
blues skies, white clouds
daydreams surrounding me.

Just a nod and I’m ready
to let him in free
to let go in the grass
to give easily.

My friend through the years
has never brushed me
with a soft, wanton touch
though days like this I see
he’s given everything
and I need to let good be
just stare at the clouds
and feel blessed in his beauty.
