Click hereI close my eyes and instantly I'm there
an old wooden house that sits back in the trees
its age a testament to love it received
its presence leaves me in peace
I enter through a rugged door
and the smells of freshly baked bread fills my senses
nothing fancy , but comfort fills the room
and calms my soul to be in its presence
I walk through each of its rooms and find not a soul
but I am not troubled for I came to see no one
just being here in this grand old house
calms my spirit and my troubles are undone
I walk out the back and sit on its steps
I watch as the birds flutter through the trees
and squirrels and rabbits search for winters stores
and their presence sets my mind at ease
I think of those who have come and gone
and have lived here through out their days
I can hear the children play and smell the bar-b-queue
and I long for the peacefulness of those days
As I sit I can feel the movement of time
wash over me and it fills me with sadness
for I must leave this peaceful life
and go back to my time of the day to day madness
but I hear a whisper in my heart
that warms my spirit as I open my eyes
"don’t be sad, for I am always here
when you come home there are never good-bye
