Holidays are rushing in everything
needs done.
House cleaned groceries bought
carpets shampooed.
Hair styled
Oops but not like last years.
Red hair just isn't me but I can laugh about it now.

Having the hair looking like its on flame
made for lively conversations
brought out the many jokes so no
Number 26 red for me.

Where did I place that tree?
You know the one that wasn't taken apart just shoved.
Oh people would talk that I wasn't the fuss budget they think I am.

Ingredients are at hand
Who would but crazy people plan on two alike dinners
less than a month a part.
Green bean casserole with onions.. Smashed potato's swimming in butter
Candied yams that are topped with marshmallows.

Oh and that beautiful 28 pound turkey all seasoned and buttered down.
The star of the show.
Oh what they hell get a spiral cut ham take short cuts at all cost.
Let them duke it out.

Now the relatives to invite
Clearly you have to think this through
Can your sister sit by your mother?
Second thought better separate them
Not enough time has past.

Brilly lives alone so she just blurts out
Which spooks the sox off Uncle Jeb.
He ducks his head crying "In coming"
Nelda and Velda will sit together
After all they have never been separated
Now to think of it maybe that's why they never married.

His Uncle Ron will give us his views
on everything all things nothing off limits
His wife Rose she sits and smiles
That must be how they are celebrating 67 years of marriage.

Wine pouring for the meal will cause for lively talk.
Unless like last year Myrtle drank the bottle
and promptly feel snoring in her soup.

So many decisions maybe to many questions
its our family besides if they didn't come here
then where would I get this enjoyment of the holidays?

Oh not of the actual holidays its the after math
when everybody is fed. Everybody is tired to tired
to argue which way to hang the toilet paper roll.
The last of the tail lights turning the corner.

Ahhhh now this is my holiday its filled with
solitude many smiles and a warm fuzzy feeling
towards the fruit loops that I call family.
