Hope in Helplessness

byLadynStFreknBed©

On the pinnacle of a tree-shaded hill
Under arcing boughs shielding me from the sun
The gentle wind whispers, "God is with you still."

I wander, feeling alone, desperate, and ill-
thoughts of endless struggles and progress undone
on the pinnacle of a tree-shaded hill.

Mass defeat and depression choking my will,
unable to recall any battle won.
The gentle wind whispers, "God is with you still."

Judging my challenges hopeless to fulfill
I consider labeling my life as done
on the pinnacle of a tree-shaded hill.

Darkness has conquered my life with deepest chill
Leaving me tracing the steel curves of my gun
The gentle wind whispers, "God is with you still."

Crucial moment of death decided until
Honest prayers bring peace, halting plans begun
on the pinnacle of a tree-shaded hill.
The gentle wind whispers, "God is with you still."
