Do you miss me?
Do you think of me long past the darkness
and into the dawning light?
Does that light, that creeps
in through your window,
ever creep into your heart?
Does it illuminate some thought;
some moment, that you tried so hard to keep away?
Buried with all of those lies,
some were mine,
and some were ones that you told yourself.
Because if I was all of those things
that you think I am now,
then I wouldn't be the one that you fell in love with.
And then I couldn't leave you.
I couldn't hurt you.
And I would be filed away
as just another mistake you wish you'd never made.
Do you think about me?
And wonder just how
you could have made such a mistake
as loving me? Or leaving me?
