Well I had a girl today
Words so sweet, my heart took me away
Soft-eyed angel, she took me home
And there we did play
Razor soft, I felt the pain
And there beneath the rolling sky
We were together, she and I
Thinking in the cool evening, O lord
Here we go again
Well you know I wanted so to stay
But come the dawn and I must away
I held her hand
She never asked me why
Stood silent, began to cry
Tears displayed her demand
Her face was blurred by the raindrops on the window
With aching heart, I turned to go
