I've wanted to say it for awhile,
But I know you won't listen.
Why? It's a mystery,
But it's also a fact or the truth
Or whatever.
It doesn't matter what name you give it,
Or title or et cetera.

All that matters is that I'm right.
Again.
And in my usual bitter manner.
You don't even grant me
The courtesy of an empty echo,
Not even a twitch of recognition
Not a grunt or a sigh.

Your face is cold.
There's no expression,
Not even a frown of disapproval
Or hint of contempt.
Sometimes I wonder if you even
Recognize me as human,
But I always let that thought fade
Into the background
Trying hard to keep from creeping back
In those dark hours when sleep fails me
Until it fades again.
Vanishes into the static
Of my self effacing nature.

If only you could at least hate me
I could accept that and move on.
Sadly, you aren't even willing
To grant me that small courtesy.

Instead, I find myself forced
To give you that gift myself.
You are welcome, of course.
Even though I know
You can't be bothered to care.
