I've seen her cry before
A thousand times before
But this time when I saw her cry
Her sadness blackened out the sky

The stars burned out
The sun was extinguished
The earth was cloaked in her tears
Her sobs resounded in our ears

I reached for her
I held her close
Touching her scorched my skin
But I held my agony in

I kissed away her tears
I tried to ease her hurt
I wanted to erase her pain
Everything I did was in vain

My heart grew heavy
My soul turned black
I looked at her with sad eyes
Angry that she believed their lies

As I held her near to me
Her pain took her over
Within my arms she passed away
I've not been the same since that day
