Hey you
did I ever tell you
that rainy nights in Seattle
are good to walk in?

You get to know a city
by it's smell

Shuffle along Pike's Place
the open market
tells you where they make fish fly

Around the corner
used to be a place that made
red beans and rice

I drooled and had a home there
but it's closed now

A methadone clinic
kitty-corners
it's vapors are cigarettes
puke and cold coffee

Way off, the bakery
bakes bread all night
sour dough and rye

Down the street, underground
flesh perverts get tits and ass
go to gay bars and bondage clubs
everything reeks of sex

and I've nick-named
it Cum Avenue

These are places only locals know
which give smelly evidence
of the day, mostly stink of sin

but the rain washes it away
for tomorrow
