If you’re asking will I stand out in the rain
Just so that you don’t have to, I will
If you’re asking would I give you blanket when you’re cold
On a cold winters night, I will
If you’re asking would I give you my last remaining hot pocket
Just to satisfy your dying hunger, I will.
If you’re asking will I come home to you every night for the rest of my life
Just because you’re there, I will
If you’re asking me to spend my nights putting band-aids on your scars
From running too fast, I will
If you’re asking me to kiss you every night before bed
Just to make you stay until the next morning, I will
If you’re asking me to paint “ I love you “ on a billboard
Just to show how much I love you, I will
If you’re asking me to make sure you don’t forget where you laid your teeth
When you get old and gray, I will.
If you’re asking me to talk to you when you just feel like bitching
After a long day at work, I will.
If you’re asking me to give you the rest of my life
And never think twice, I will.
And if you’re asking me to stand up and become your husband
And love every minute of it, I will.
