I wish that we had met another way
So that you were free to pursue the way I have envisioned in my dreams
Reaching out to you with nothing but honesty and an open hand
Giving this feeling I have a fighting chance.

I wish that you belonged to anyone by her
My best friend that has stood by me through thick and thin
We’ve been through hell and back, together through good and bad
I can’t betray her trust, even for one chance to tell you how I feel.

I wish that I could control the burning of unshed tears
That threaten to betray the unspoken words I hold at bay
Every time that we talk or get a moment alone to laugh together
And the anticipation I feel just waiting for another moment with you.

I wish that I could turn these new unexplored feelings
Unto someone that wasn’t forbidden for me to love
Because I can feel my resolve slipping every time you laugh or smile
Knowing that I could get lost in every word that you send my way.

I wish that I could give way to the longing I have inside
To tell you how I feel, of what I want
And see if the unspoken messages I have read from you
Mirror the ones that pound relentlessly through my veins.

I wish we didn’t have so much in common
It makes it harder for me to turn an unbiased cheek in your direction
When everything we share casually
Melds my heart closer to yours.

I wish you weren’t so damned charming and gorgeous to boot
Driving me close to tears with your innocent flirting
And the way that you seem to know
Just what to say to make my walls crumble a little bit more.

I wish, even if just for a moment
We could turn back the hands of time
And I could be the one that met you first
And not have to ache like this because of my loyalty to her.

I wish I didn’t see myself falling for you
Or feel the sturdy walls I erected with precision
Crumbling every time you looked at me
Or took the time to help me open up from this self-inflicted prison.

I wish I could control this thing going on
Ripping me in shreds the closer I feel myself drawn to you.

I wish I didn’t believe in love anymore
But every minute that I spend with you … I know I do.

I agree with sack

You had me hooked on every

single word you wrote and you

have written this so well. I

really felt your frustration

at being so in love with someone

who is so forbidden.

Good work, well done.

Thanks,

~ Jenn
