I wrote a letter to you
Etching my soul in ink
Signed and sealed it with a kiss
Hoping to form between us a link

I spent hours with my stationary
The words spilling from my pen
My heart bled out on the paper
With it peace flooded in

I gave you a glimpse of myself
The ink painted a picture for you
Telling you the story of my heart
As only words can do

I wrapped the letter in love
Tucking it carefully away
The envelope holding it
As I hold you in my heart each day

But I couldn't send it to you
The words left me empty
I set the envelope ablaze instead
Realizing the letter was more for me
