if i told you
the moment I read your note
my heart began to flutter

would i be guilty of hyperbole
or for loving you too much
for your own good…

because i couldnt stand to think
it was all just a bunch of words

and i dont want to hurt you
anymore than absolutely necessary

its just that i find myself
up against it this time
and i need you more than ever

i mean isnt is obvious
cant you tell
i dont want to go on without you

as the steaming sun slowly sets
into a sky that is heavy and blue

and the day slips silently away
into a dream of burgundy and roses.
