if it makes a difference
realize i am just a castaway on a deserted island
of my own free will

it is a peaceful privacy
and if somewhat monotonous at times remember still
the view is unobscured

when choosing solitude
then one feels at liberty to investigate their imagination
that is what one does

so i explore my island
at my own leisure as the spirit stimulates the passions
and when curiousity convenes

and if it is just a circle
then this is a circle that i will come to deeply understand
like the back of my hand

and if i am hypnotized
by anonymous waves then at least i do not possess the fear
of being resuced either

as i watch you sail away
a feeble hand can only barely wave from some sandy beach
on an isolated island.

Like the way you wrote this

with the shorter lines and then the longer ones that stretch out and flow. Very nice.

Love this, Steve!

I'm sure you know Yeats' The Lake Isle of Innisfree. It is perhaps my favorite poem ever ever ever :) and for exactly the reasons you elucidate in your poem. You reached me with this one, buddy.

Fear of being rescued

Despite the typo it is a wonderful notion of monarchy over your own corner of the world. Great poem, Steve.

Very...

....much enjoyed this, as I do all your verse.....and you're probably well on the way to rescuing yourself from hell by now. With this poem, it's purgatory at the very worst.
