"If"
I could have known...
I would have been there
for you.
"If"
I had thought to ask...
I could have helped you.

We live by the word
"if."
So many things
could have,
should have...
been different...
had we thought to use it.

Why do we miss out
on things that would have been
"wonderful,"
for each other?
Why do we find
"ourselves"
apart and alone?
(Only thing left
is the hurting,
and the hurting
of each other.)

"If"
I had said
"I love you,"
or
"If"
I had said
"I care..."
once in a while.

Perhaps
we would still be
"together."
Perhaps
there would be
"smiles"
instead of tears.

It would be
"sad"
years from now,
to wonder about
all of the
"what if's?"

The "if's"
can make such a difference...
"if"
we try.
