There is a time when everyone feels their own mortality. A time when we look death in the eye and we feel the end is somehow near. What is it about death that makes a person’s blood run cold? We assume that death is inferior to life, when, in all actuality, we have no proof of this. It is quite possible that life is the inferior position to be in.
What if things were reversed and we could die? Perhaps that would be a blessing for those of us who walk the night, our hunger never truly satisfied, our demons raging inside of us, wanting to control us and use us for their own enjoyment. But, immortality snatches death away from us and we are left with nothing except the darkness. Darkness has a name now and it is Father. And the offspring of Darkness shall be called Children of the Night. Darkness is their master, their ruler, and the Children are obliged to obey their master. They can never again leave the Darkness for if they do, they will be forever lost.
