In all this darkness,
Only cold breezes to keep me company.
I'm tired from thoughts
Of arms surrounding -
Of eyes admiring -
Of lips kissing -

Listed to one side
My knees cramp, but I do not move.
Instead I watch the stars
From atop the bedcovers.

No moon to please the eye.
Only the deep emptiness remains
Where my tears flow freely.

And I wait -
For the one who will
Warm my belly -
Take my breath -
Wet my lips -
Spread my legs -

And fill the empty space
In all this darkness.
